Well, not exactly “nothing”, but nothing I really feel I want to do. The thing that takes up most of my time at the moment is painting the conservatory. OK, this is long overdue, but it seems a long way from art. I have managed to get out of the way the writing project that distracted me. I read the paper to a conference yesterday, and it was received well, but I’m simply left trying to get those kinds of ideas out of my head. Yesterday’s life-drawing session was a bit of a dead loss. I was really tired by the time I got there, and came home with nothing of any worth. Currently the snooker world championships are being played in Sheffield ,and I spend quite a bit of time watching on the TV. That would be fine if I felt that with the rest of my time I was doing anything that mattered.
For some reason I do not fully understand, I simply cannot get going with a new art project, and feel beached. Meanwhile, anything I turn my hand to feels just like filling time, as the old song said, “busy doing nothing”.
I know that this post will feel to many of my readers to be no more than a whinge. The purpose of this blog, however, has always been to share with readers something of what it is like to be an artist, and how art relates to other activities in my life. So, I’m sorry, but on this occasion you get the whinge.
