Swings and roundabouts. Ups and downs. Mountains and valleys.
Life is all over the place at the moment. On the “down” side, I’ve had to write a really difficult letter that left me feeling knocked about. The computer/printer has been playing up all day. People I sent messages to have not been responding and time is wasted chasing them. Having persuaded myself that I had finished sorting a load of old correspondence I find two more box-files of the stuff. I spend so much time doing these other things that I can’t get back to painting. My wife wins at Scrabble again.* It’s winter, and it’s wet and windy.
On the other hand, I hung my new display at the Origins restaurant and deli in Clayton this afternoon. It looks good, and they made me a great cup of tea. I’ll be doing something similar at the Square & Compass in North Rigton tomorrow. I’m really pleased to be able to include there a new piece that satisfies me. I got a very pleasing response from the person to whom I had to write that difficult letter, making the agonising about it all worthwhile. The snooker “Masters” tournament has started on the TV. (I need to ration myself to two hours a day!) My wife experimented with a new recipe for dinner tonight. Oh: and yes: I managed to fix the computer.
There is more: but you get the idea. As Kurt Vonnegut used to say, “So it goes!”
*She chides me for being competitive, but boy! was she crowing tonight!
