I still can’t make up my mind about this wretched picture. After this morning’s Zoom conversation it was “Yes”, but after checking my email at lunchtime, it was “No!” I carefully avoided looking at it all afternoon, and put up my bean poles instead. I did go up the stairs at one point, however, and couldn’t avoid getting a glimpse through the open studio door. That was a definite “Maybe.”
Before settling in to write this evening’s blog I couldn’t avoid giving it the once-over, and I have decided where the ultimate choice lies. Was it a good idea badly-executed, or was it a rubbish idea in the first place? I lean towards the former …. but, on the other hand ….
When it comes down to it there is an interesting parallel between the choice I have to make and the central decision faced by any actor. “Who am I?” Played by a succession of different actors that decision would be different, but each one has to make a commitment to a coherent character, and stick with it. Perhaps my problem here is that, given the two figures in the picture, I have not clearly committed in my own mind to exactly who they are. They are too generic. That is what I need to work on. Of course, I still might end up chucking it, but my picture has a reprieve for the time being.
