In my last post I resolved to make an effort to break out of the sense of closure and inertia into which we all seem to have slumped as a result of the Covid-19 epidemic. Already I’m seeing results. I sent off an email enquiry to a possible exhibition venue, and today I received an encouraging response. (This is not, so far, a commitment, but we had an encouraging ‘phone discussion this afternoon.) Tomorrow looks like a pretty vacant day, with nothing in the calendar. Maybe I need to repeat the trick while I’m feeling positive.
My morale has been boosted, however, as much as anything else by our return to the climbing wall. There was no possibility of climbing outdoors today, as it has poured with rain all day. (My climbing partner was later getting to the wall because the motorway was flooded.) I can’t tell you how encouraging it has been to start some physical activity again. I’m absolutely wrecked, and I can’t imagine the state in which I’ll be when I try to get out of bed in the morning. Even so, we have returned to a respectable standard considering the length of our lay-off.* I really do have the feeling at the end of the day that life is starting to move forward again.
Now all I need is a really good idea for a picture.
