Three of my pictures have been accepted in the annual Emerging Artists competition at the Creates Gallery in Monmouth. The show can be seen on-line until 29 March.* I am particularly pleased because I have found it difficult over the years to secure exposure of my work in main-stream commercial galleries.
This success comes at the end of a week of dreadful frustration during which the courier who was supposed to deliver the pictures to the gallery messed up the collection arrangement. To make matters worse there has also been a problem with the provision of cable services in our area, so that I have felt at times as if life was steadily slipping out of any kind of control.
Also I had news today that there will be a solo exhibition of my work at the Manor House Gallery, in Ilkley, at some point in the summer of next year. (Dates are still being negotiated.) After several months of effort and anxiety it does appear that I am at last making some progress in securing opportunities to show my work in respectable locations. As you might be able to guess, I’m really very pleased and very relieved. I make no apology for having celebrated before dinner tonight with a double of the very nice whisky my sister-in-law gave me for Christmas.
