Back in 2019 I posted several entries in this blog relating to the idea that the different hemispheres of our brains govern different functions. I have been startled over the past week to rediscover the importance of this idea. After a period of fairly intensive art activity I find myself this week writing again, and having to make out a logical argument in support of an idea. It has been remarkable that I have found it impossible to get back into painting again. There is a kind of idea in there, and before I began my writing project I did a rough sketch of a picture, and identified a possible reference photograph for one element of the overall image. Nevertheless, it feels as if the realisation of this would be quite an alien endeavour.
Otherwise it’s been a “maintenance day”, tidying the garden and clearing the winter’s leaves from the gutter. Suddenly there is a feeling that things are starting to move forward again. The Prime minister’s statement this afternoon was quite optimistic, and with luck we will be out climbing again by the end of March.
I had a real wallow in nostalgia over dinner tonight. We decided to break out from the rut of the music we have been listening to over dinner each night, and select some CDs we haven’t heard for a ling time. We ended up with Johnny Cash and Lonnie Donnegan!
