Stirrings of spring?

Somewhat to my surprise I found myself making two small drawings today, after a period of several weeks during which I have not done any art work at all. It looks as if I might have washed out of my system the baleful effects of a period of writing. Where these ideas come from remains a mystery, however, as I woke in the night with these images in my head. Whether I will be able to develop either of them into anything of more permanent interest remains to be seen, but it is encouraging to be drawing again.

Oh, yes! Also I finished a felt model of the Soup Dragon, from the children’s TV series The Clangers. My wife found the kit during a clear-out, although I am not sure how she ever came by it in the first place. She made a kind of desultory effort to put it together, and became discouraged when she discovered that the glue supplied with the kit had solidified. I’m rather pleased with it, because I think that it does constitute a tentative signal of the return of creativity.

My salad seedlings are all sprouting. Spring is here!
