What do we do now?

…. as Spike Milligan famously asked. As the snooker World Championship plays out its final games today, my project of doing a portrait of one of the participants every day will also be ending. I’ve really been enjoying the process (the drawing as well as the snooker), and wondering what to do next. One thing is for certain: my wife will be expecting to have access to the TV again. I’ve never believed in the concept of “withdrawal symptoms” until this morning.

As for me, I am sure that I ought to build on the experience of the past two weeks. There will be some encouragement in this respect because the life-drawing class I attend is permitted to recommence on Thursday. I would like to persist with my own development project, however, in addition to this. In the absence of a significant painting project at the moment I think that it might be a good idea to continue work on portraits in one way or another. The only snag with that, however, is that I might have to settle for painting my wife watching TV, and making up for her current state of deprivation.
