When we moved into our home in 1997 I noticed that a small repair needed doing. The edge of the parquet floor at the door of the living room had not been finished very well. A narrow strip of hardwood was need to complete the job, stained and varnished to match the wood of the floor. Well: today I actually finished the job! I don’t suppose that not took me more than two hours, cutting the wood to fit, sanding the existing wood of the threshold to the correct level, staining it to match the rest of the floor and finally adding two coats of varnish.
I wonder how many times I have stepped over that spot, and noted that something needed to be done to make it look right. How many times have I promised myself that I really will get the job done? Procrastination is truly remarkable phenomenon. I’m sure that this example is a personal record, and I would be interested to hear of any cases that beat it.
