…. a laurel tree. This is the subject of my latest “picture of the month” (see the galleries.) It is very much an experiment, both as a composite of nine images, but also by virtue of the medium. I still feel that I am experimenting with egg tempera.
I’m afraid that the photo is my own rather spontaneous shot, and not the high quality image I will eventually have made if I decide to send it for exhibition, but you’ll get the general idea.
The idea of “tree rings” is familiar, of course, but I was astounded when I cut through the wood to discover the tremendous variety of colours and textures which were revealed. So what we have here is a set of nine sections through the tree-trunk, enjoying and recording that sense of discovery. Comment would be welcome, of course, as usual.
