I’ve got to break free!

A couple of nights ago we watched the “bio-pic” about the life of Freddy Mercury, Bohemian Rhapsody. It came into my head again today inn the form of the title of one of his songs …. “I’ve got to break free!” Well: that’s the way I’m feeling at the moment. With two substantial exhibitions scheduled for April all of my time for what seems like ages has been taken up with planning and preparation for these. I’ve had to select themes which don’t demand that pictures are in two different places, and which do actually stay something relevant about what the viewer might expect to see. Then I’ve had to go through all of my work to decide which pieces would best be included in which exhibition. Several items need to be reframed. Publicity has to be designed and prepared. Through what channels will it be appropriate to publicise these events? How all I actually present the work in the gallery? Then there are details such as whether or not I will want to launch the show with an invited guest night, or something similar. And so on, and so on.

The idea that I am actually a painter appears to have sunk below the horizon. I have not done any proper art for at least two weeks. Frankly, I’m beginning to get very twitchy, as I suppose an addict might feel when put on cold turkey. Just a little picture wouldn’t do any harm, would it? Can I sneak one in without anybody noticing my absence?
