We would prefer to say, “Once in a blue moon.” It amounts to the same thing. We’re talking about an event that is really pretty rare. The phrase came to mind when I set about cleaning the studio today. It is hard to say exactly how remarkable is this occasion, but I discovered an old brief-case with documents in it dating to 2019.
This noteworthy development has come about because I have finished a set of pieces, and envisage no additions to the series. In fact, I have no very specific ideas in mind for pictures at the moment. There are art-related tasks beckoning, such as planning publicity for my solo exhibition in three months’ time, or framing a couple of pieces intended for an open exhibition in April. So I really had no excuses why I should not apply myself to this well-overdue task.
The room has been stripped of everything readily portable, upper surfaces have been dusted and the vacuum cleaner has done its stuff. I’ve even bought a new rug to go under the typing chair. When I’ve recovered with the inevitable cup of tea and piece of fruit cake the floor will be washed. With any luck I will be able to restore order after dinner tonight. You cannot imagine how virtuous I feel!
Or as they would say in Italian, “Ogni morte di Papa.”
