What a difference a week can make! This is true both of the weather and life. Suddenly we find ourselves surviving a week in which the constant sub-zero temperatures have done nothing whatsoever to move the foot of snow with has fallen …. with no prospect of change for some time. It’s funny! I almost thought spring was just around the corner before that.
There has been a similarly dramatic change in the weather as far as art goes. I restarted my attendance at the life-drawing classes last night, having had to miss them for a couple of months because my shoulder injury prevented me from driving. It was gratifying to be welcomed so positively by the other students. (I would never have expected a hug!) I drove over to Steeton today to have a selection of my work photographed for inclusion in the revised web-site which is on its way. That felt like a real step forward. Then, on my way back to Bradford, I found myself reflecting on possible venues I might approach during the “Bradford City of Culture” year, which has just been inaugurated, with the prospect of another solo exhibition. Hitherto I have been unable to look at the future in such a positive way.
I suppose that the biggest and most positive development is that I have started to plan (albeit in a vague and general way) another “art retreat” in order to kick-start painting again. Perhaps there’s life in the old dog yet!
