It is a curious fact that the Christmas-New Year period induces a kind of internet hibernation. Life becomes very introverted, with attention being centred on the family and close friends. This state of affairs has been intensified in my case by two factors. The weather has been spectacularly “seasonal” with several falls of deep-snow, which have now frozen hard. I know that it is ridiculous, but even in the age of the internet the natural response to this seems to be to hunker down with a warm fire and a jigsaw puzzle. (Aided and abetted, of course, by a glass or two of a good single malt whisky!)
Secondly, when I have had the energy and inclination these have been directed to the revision of this web-site, the results of which I hope will actually be made public before too long. This process has itself promoted a sense of introversion, as I have spent hours poring over photographs of my work and deciding which one will merit inclusion in the new site. (I take the last new items to the photographer on Saturday.)
There are stirrings of new life, as I have begun to turn my thoughts to new projects and new exhibitions, after what seems like an age of introversion. All I can say, however, is “A Happy New Year”, and keep watching this space. I hope that there will be more to read of a wider interest quite soon.
