Yesterday’s opening day of my exhibition at the Manor House Gallery and Museum in Ilkley went really well. I think that about thirty people turned up and the place was pleasantly full with a nice “buzz” about it. It was a really encouraging experience., and it was good to renew acquaintance with some old friends. The evening session followed a very good starting day. I clocked about fifty visitors, which exceeded in one day the footfall I have experienced in a whole show on some other occasions!
I suppose that I shouldn’t take this view, but I was actually surprised by the sales I have made already. (Of course you have sold stuff! It’s brilliant!)
The gallery is a very attractive space in which to show work and I am looking forward to the next ten days or so of the exhibition. This sense of optimism is enhanced by the fact that the staff at the Manor House have been very supportive and responsive to my needs, for which I’m very grateful.
