A few days ago I mentioned my efforts too put forward my name as a participant in a group of open competitions for artists. So far so good! Of the five opportunities I identified I have applied for two. In the next few days I will send off another one, and I will need to wait a little longer before precise details are announced of the remaining two. The biggest problem with entry number three (as I hinted in my previous post) is that I need to do some guesswork about the appeal to the judges of different aspects of my work. The the moment the spare bedroom is littered with a selection of my pieces I have taken off my storage racks and unwrapped. I think that there must be about eight of them at the moment. Given the expense of this project I can’t see myself submitting more than three or four in the final “cut”, and at the moment I’m not entirely confident about any of them. I might ask a colleague to drop by and give an opinion. Let’s sleep on it first. pen
