(Wherever that might be. Leonard Cohen seems to know.) Anyway, it sounds as if it might come close to describing my present mood as I get back into painting again. The experience of my “art retreat” in Derbyshire seems to be paying off, as I am now into my second composition in a new series. It is interesting to see that a part of my new freedom to work seems to be associated with the choice of a novel medium. I’m working largely in oil pastels, which I haven’t used for ages (with some mixed media elements). It seems that there are no rules, so I can do what I want to. Another contributor to my freedom of movement is possibly the selection of new subject-matter. Much of the reference material I gathered in that period had to do with birch trees. (Yes! I have broken away from rock!) We’ll have to see how it goes. il
