It’s another world

Reviewing the current art scene, this month the editor of Apollo writes: “… it feels like these moments are like busses–you wait for one to come along and then three come along at once.” He was commenting on the current flush of important exhibitions. I note that one of these is in the Rijksmuseum, one in Florence and the third in London! I count myself lucky if, on one of my twice-yearly trips to London, I have the privilege of visiting two big shows. It is, indeed, another world.

There will be a pause in this blog for a few days. My wife and I have been fans of the Cardiff Singer of the World competitions for many years now. We don’t feel that we can run to the whole competition this year, but we are travelling down to Cardiff tomorrow in order to see the final, and another “gala concert” timed to fill in the space between the end of the heats and the “big night”. There is also a small private gallery in the city which I always make a point of visiting, as it is always worthwhile.

I guess I shouldn’t feel sorry for myself, should I.
