…. they will show up. I’m back to titles for pictures again. Regular readers will be familiar with my lament about how difficult it is to find an effective title for a piece of work. I have been interested during the past week to repeat an experience I have had before. Just when you think that nothing of any interest or relevance is going to show up, suddenly you see exactly what to say. Where does it come from? I have no idea.
I am embarked on the third of a group in my series about trees, using reference material I collected during my visit last month to the monastery of the Community of the Resurrection, in Mirfield. Having woken quite early one morning I decided to take a walk in their extensive, and very beautiful, woodland, before breakfast. Not only did I find the trees to be interesting, but also I was struck by the changing light, as the sun came up. This difference in the light striking the tree trunks is, probably, the primary objective of the set.
I was looking through my reference material yesterday evening when it struck me suddenly. It would be good to use, as titles, the names of the traditional monastic devotions. Lauds takes place too early, except perhaps in the height of summer. So that had to be set aside. I thought that titles of the following three “offices”, however, would match ideally the growing daylight …. Prime, Terce and Sext.
I am recovering gradually from the fitting of my heart pacemaker the other day. I have been pleased that there has been so little physical discomfort, but I do get very tired. Go with the flow in this area, I suppose, as with the search for the titles of pictures. “To everything there is a season.”
Welcome to the special group of people with heart disorders. We learn to live with it.
Thank you. So far so good!
