Isn’t it remarkable that good ideas can come to you under what might appear to be adverse circumstances?
I’ve been down with the most horrible cold for the past couple of days, with streaming eyes and nose to the point that on occasions I’ve hardly been able to see, God only knows how many boxes of paper handkerchiefs I’ve used, and I’m into my second box of analgesic cold treatments. Quite a lot of time has been spent in bed, just hoping that it will go away …. which it will, eventually. The surprising thing about this experience, however, is that my brain has continued to function.
Over the coming months I am squaring up for two solo exhibitions, and I’m planning to enter two national competitions. The titles and “personal statements” for the exhibitions seem to have written themselves. I feel pretty settled in my mind about the photographs I will put forward for publicity. While not having the same degree of certainty, I am feeling fairly confident about the items I will offer for the competitions. All of this appears to have emerged from a fog of misery, in which the rest of me seems to have been hardly functioning at all. Funny things, brains!
