As I tested positive for Covid the other day you might well guess that life is not exactly normal. I believe that what I have got is not a very severe version of it, and already I am feeling a good deal better. Nevertheless, life is no fun. The worst aspect of it is the sense of demoralisation which has followed the period of dreadful coughing, which I am happy to say has now passed.. Nothing seems worth doing, and the things one manages to do feel as if they are rubbish.
I have had to miss several social engagements which might normally have been expect to be morale boosters. In particular, I have to skip the opening night of the Christmas exhibition at the Apothecary Gallery, in Thornton, where some of my material will be on display. What a drag! This morning I struggled to keep the appointment for the first of a possible series of on-line, one-to-one tuition sessions in Italian. In retrospect it probably wasn’t all that bad, but at the time it felt quite disheartening. I know that this will pass, but I’ve never been very good at resigning myself to things.
