This year has produced an amazing crop of soft fruit. My black and red currants, and gooseberries, are yielding quite amazing crops of fruit this year. I am completely in the dark, however, when it comes to deciding why this might be so. Is it a matter of something I have done right (for a change), or is it more a matter of something I failed to do wrong? Frankly, I have do idea where to begin to find an explanation.
Come to think of it, art is rather like that, isn’t it? There are those occasions when, all of a sudden, everything comes together to produce a really satisfying result. Equally, there are those occasions when, despite your best efforts and conscientious attention to those things which are supposed to lead success, the results are disappointing. What is there artistic equivalent of the weather?
