I’m looking forward to tomorrow because I get to take a second test confirm whether or not I am officially free of the wretched covid. Based upon my current feeling of misery and inertia, however, I am not expecting a very encouraging response. The trouble is, in part, I have to admit, that I am not a very good patient. Being so rarely ill I am not sure that I know how to do it, and consequently allow myself to become demoralised when I believe that I ought to be stoical.
The bright spot in my week has been the fact that we enjoyed Christmas pudding tonight for dinner! Yes! You read correctly. We make Christmas puddings in batches of four, and they are normally consumed not only at Christmas but on festive occasions throughout the year. I guess it is a good indication of the fact that the past years been acutely deficient in good occasions to celebrate that we have almost arrived at Christmas with a pudding in reserve. I can confirm that a good Christmas pudding is a wonderful antidote to the mental misery attendant upon civid. I feel almost human.
