The local TV new tonight carried a great story. A pub called the Green Dragon, in the neighbouring town of Pontefract, has decided to celebrate Christmas over the coming week-end. The last one was “cancelled” by the imposition of the official lock-down. Because everybody is feeling so wretched, particularly because of the weather at the moment, as well as the past year of restrictions on our movement and sociability, the proprietors felt that their clients needed a bit of a lift.
May wife and I agree that this is a great idea, and have decided to enjoy a Christmas dinner together over the week-end. We always make a batch of four Christmas puddings each year, and the last of these is still sitting the in cellar. So: this massage is the equivalent of a Christmas card to all my readers. Christmas is the time of “good news”, and I hope that all of you are able to look forward now to something good in your future, after such a long period of misery. Theologically, of course, there is no reason why Wizzard could not be right in wishing that “it could be Christmas every day”. Do you know, I might get the crib out of the cupboard under the stairs.
Anyway. Happy Christmas!
