…. with the punters. Too often my experience as an exhibitor has been to hang my work (or have it hung for me) and then to be compelled to leave it on the wall without actually having the opportunity to engage with the viewers. The first showing of my new series Creating the Creation took place today, and it was good to have the opportunity to “loiter with intent” so that it was possible to engage visitors in conversation.
Of course there was the usual proportion of visitors who seem pretty indifferent to the work, but it was good to hear some intelligent observations, indicating that at least some people had grasped what I have been driving at. I shall have a similar opportunity tomorrow, to which I am looking forward. Perhaps more along these lines, and in greater detail, in my next post.
