“Crumbly” is the word ….

…. which best describes how life has been over the past few weeks. I guess that this has been reflected in the rather friable nature of recent posts. I have been struggling against injury and the weather, both of which have been interfering in their own way with the things I want to/need to do. For the next three days I will be away on a brief holiday with my wife, and I’m hoping that it will be possible to begin to put some order back into life. Most of all, I am hoping that it will be possible to get back into art.

Several months have passed since I have been able to do any serious art work. The reasons for such a gap in creativity are unclear to me. It was very encouraging last night, however, to come back from my weekly life-drawing class, discovering that the session had been so productive. I was immensely gratified this afternoon, during one of my on-line Italian language classes, to hear the response on my teacher. Every week, after the art class, I put up on my pin-board the pieces I have done from which I feel I can learn something. These were visible during the language session, and to my surprise and pleasure my Italian teacher was very enthusiastic about them. Perhaps my “crumbly” existence is about to acquire greater internal cohesion.
