First the good news ….

After a break for the Christmas/New Year holiday the life-drawing class is starting up again at the Ilkley Art School. I really have missed the regular stimulus of these sessions. They will be particularly welcome at the moment because I have not been very successful in finding projects under my own steam. Recently I have been rather preoccupied with the more administrative side of art, thinking about a forthcoming exhibition and framing old pictures. These things are necessary, of course, but they lack the sense of creativity that comes with actually drawing.

Now the bad news. I visited the physiotherapist this morning for treatment of a recent shoulder strain and I was told that I have to lay off climbing for couple of weeks. This is very disappointing news, of course, but I am trying to find a silver lining somewhere in the cloud. I shall have no excuses now not to get out and do some plein aire work. I’ve been promising myself an expedition of this kind for some time and never got around to it. I even have in mind a particular destination. All we need now is some fine weather. I live in hope!
