I have just finishing painting over a canvas in order to re-use it. This will be its third incarnation. Is this excessive parsimony? Actually, I think not. The previous images on it never really amounted to much, and are not worth preserving. The decisive consideration, however, is that the steady accumulation of texture, showing through the titanium white with which I’ve eliminated the former designs, will actually contribute essentially to the intended new design …. I hope!
I collected one of my recent pictures from the framer today, and I’m really pleased with it. It is good when a new frame actually enhances the picture without making itself noticeable.
