My beautiful reward!

I’ve been painting like crazy recently, being both very productive and rather pleased with the results. A natural consequence of this, of course, has been the neglect of a wide range of “maintenance tasks”. My conscience has been prodding me for some time now, and today it got the better of me. I spent the morning cleaning the place….and my goodness, did it need it! (I still have not got around to cleaning the studio, but that will wait.)

This dinner time I was able to claim my “beautiful reward”. Unlike Bruce Springsteen, however, my reward consisted of the first of our home-grown strawberries. We have never managed to grow them successfully in the past, but decided this year that they were in the wrong location in the garden. I tried replanting them in large tubs in the sunniest part of the patio in front of the house, and the strategy has worked. They really are lovely, with more to come.

I don’t count this as a “reward” for anything, but we had another visit this afternoon from a barred woodpecker.
