Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow.

So goes the old saying. You probably know it. It is not unlikely that you put it into practice. I know I do. The trouble is, however, what happens when you discover that it is tomorrow? I have a nasty feeling that when tomorrow dawns I will discover that I have exhausted all those good excuses I hoarded for putting off the clearing and rationalisation of my filing cabinet.

I’ve finished (to my own great surprise) all the correspondence involved in initiating new opportunities for exhibitions in the coming year. In the absence of any good ideas for new pictures it does look as if I will, finally, have to grasp the nettle.

I bet that if you went to a careers guidance event and asked what is involved in a career as an artist, nobody will ever mention filing cabinets….just like they don’t actually mention killing people if you enquire about joining the armed forces.
