Now, why did I decide to do that?

Yesterday I decided that for my latest picture I would work with acrylic paint. Don’t ask me why. It just came to me. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that I wanted a textured surface, which I can achieve with texture gel. Anyway: I’m embarked. It has turned out to be a surprising effort, revealing the fact that I have forgotten several tricks of the trade. I discovered that I haven’t done a picture using this medium since November 2019, so it is not surprising that I am a bit rusty. I had even forgotten, at first, the importance of standing tubes of paint on their tops, so that the paint is immediately accessible and doesn’t flow to the bottom end of the tube. I had forgotten also just how long it takes texture gel to dry. Anyway: I am under way, and quite enjoying the process, although I do wonder how many basic discoveries I have to make before the task is over.
