Perhaps I was too harsh

In yesterday’s blog I was fairly hard on the “gatekeepers” to the world of art. The greater part of today was spent hanging my solo exhibition in the Apothecary Gallery, in Thornton. Galleries are, of course, a part of that structure of gatekeeping about which I was generally negative …. or at best, suspicious. I have to come clean and acknowledge that today’s experience was very encouraging indeed. The proprietor, Patrick Whitehead, was very encouraging about my work, found space for me to show two additional pieces, and advised me to raise the prices of two others.
