I don’t expect to post again until the 9th. any the soonest. My wife and I will be heading to London for one of our intermittent raids on the capital.
Perhaps the primary reason for my visit is to spend time in the Library of the Estorick Collection. This is an interesting institution, devoted to Italian modern art. They have a good in-house collection, but it serves as a space for visiting exhibitions also. The principal purpose of my visit on this occasion is that I am committed later in the year to give a lecture on Renato Gattuso’s Crocifissione. Although I have gathered a certain amount of material I really do need to deepen my knowledge in a number of areas. In particular I would like to know more about the very negative reaction to the picture on the part of the Catholic Church.
There will also be theatres and restaurants, of course …. in my spare time!
