Some people are never satisfied

Having spent the best part of the week uploading now stuff onto my web-site, this afternoon I decided that there is probably now too much! It is hard to strike a balance between using the site to demonstrate the variety of themes and techniques with which i have engaged, and making the result just too unwieldy. I’m going to sleep on this one, but I believe that tomorrow I could do a little weeding.

One problem, probably relatively minor, annoys me and defeats me. Having corrected an earlier error on the home page, which had mysteriously accumulated multiple images, I now find that the image which replaced it is the wrong format. For the life of me I can’t get rid of it! I’ll have another go tomorrow. As my old grandmother used to say: “There is no rest for the wicked!”

At least I have managed to begin painting again today. This is the final idea I have in mind for my November exhibition. (Although I suppose there is always room for a new idea.) I think that I might have made a less-than-optimal choice of the paper to use. It is one I’ve never used before–a Hahnemuhle Harmony. It is actually a watercolour paper, which I bought at the Patchings show last summer, where one of my pieces was exhibited. It turns out to have a rather coarser surface than I expected. I thought that this texture might be good to hold the pastel, which it probably is, but I seem to find myself working against the surface rather than with it. Even so, it is great to be painting again.
