Suddenly, it’s all over!

For several months now I have been labouring (rather intermittently) over my Wassail project. There has been a persisting sense of incompleteness, but no clear idea about just what it was that remained to be done. Two nights ago I was having difficulty sleeping, and my mind began to wander. Suddenly, the answer emerged as clear as could possibly be.

I needed an image of a fox, accompanied by some of the words of the celebrated song by Steeleye Span, entitled The Fox. The activity of the past couple of days has made it impossible to realise this idea until this afternoon. Everything fell into place with quite remarkable rapidity and ease. The design phase of the project is complete, and all I need to do now is to take the originals to my mate at Knight Graphics. (I envisage small edition of prints, for which I managed to buy the presentation boxes on Wednesday.)

I do find it strange, the way the creative mind works. There can be periods in which one is exerting oneself to make progress with a task and absolutely nothing emerges. When you are looking the other way, as it were, all of a sudden the solution to the problem is there by your elbow.
