I really had a bit of shock this morning. Despite feeling in vigorous health, and leading a very active life (including still climbing) I have been investigated to see if my heart is functioning OK. The detail isn’t relevant here, but the medics discovered that I have an unusually low heart rate, and despite my active life, and the fact that I feel fine, they thought I needed checking over. The hospital ‘phoned this morning to tell me that I will need a pace-maker, and until that is installed I absolutely must not drive.
You can imagine that this is a bit of a bind, and puts paid to both my regular art class and my weekly climbing sessions, neither of which is possible without the use of the car.
The good news is that I have managed to spend the greater part of today painting, and I am really pleased with the way in which my series of studies based upon ancient trees is coming along. Actually, I’ve had an inspiration for a title for the set as a whole. I thought I might call it The Secret Life of Trees. That really rather appeals …. although I’m no further along with individual titles for the separate items. I can’t tell you how immensely relieved I am that there is no medical prohibition on art!
