I took down my exhibition About Time at the Manor House gallery in Ilkley today. Back home with a pile of pictures and paperwork to be sorted out I have to say that despite the rather dazed state I am in because of a cold my prevailing state of mind is one of gratitude. The event has gone well, and this is in some degree a result of the very helpful engagement of the staff there …. some of whom are volunteers. It really does make a difference if they are clearly committed to making the experience a good one, both for the exhibitor as for the public. I have shown in too many places where the attitude of the staff has been one of, “well, there’s the wall, I guess you’d better hang your stuff on it.”
I’ve learned a good deal from the experience, and I’m sure that in future I’ll be able to take better advantage of exhibiting opportunities.
