Time to think about the big picture

Having had the operation for my second cataract I find myself in an odd situation, in that some aspects of my vision are much worse. Distance vision is unimaginably better than before, but reading is very difficult. It will be a little while before I am able to get reading glasses. It occurred to me this afternoon, however, that an enforced opportunity has been created, in that I am given the space in which to think about some strategic issues.

I have two exhibitions coming up over the summer, and I need to plan carefully for publicising both of these. They will be directed towards different possible clienteles, and so both the selection of work for display and publicity will need to be considered from somewhat different points of view. It is clear that I cannot paint at the moment, but there is no reason why I shouldn’t look again at some of the broad ideas I have had earlier, and ask myself whether there is potential in any of them, for future development. I have been promising myself for some time that I will do some substantial revision on this web-site, and have always been too busy to do that.

So: instead of just feeling frustrated and sorry for myself, I need to get a grip on those tasks which I can do.
