Well …. not exactly. I really am not a classic Scrooge when it comes to Christmas. Even so, I have to confess that I have been rather irritated over the past few days by the growing demands on my time of Christmas preparations. I really do like to keep in touch with my friends and family, but I regret to say that I have been begrudging the time I have had to spend on the writing and sending of Christmas cards and the seasonal family newsletter. Isn’t that a terrible confession?
The trouble is that this has come at a time when I have had a fairly clear idea about where I would like my next piece to go. It is all sketched out and ready to begin seriously. Because I intend to use egg tempera, however, which dries fairly quickly once mixed, ideally I would like to have a clear and uninterrupted run at it. The rest of the world seems to have different ideas about where my priorities should lie.
