Yes: that is what I was told. It seems that there is such a thing. I had a somewhat overdue discussion today with the person who is redoing my website. Actually, I was quite proud of the fact that I had devised a system for collating and presenting material for the new site. My system was intelligible, and workable, but I was rather taken aback by the warning that perhaps I ought to move away from storing information on CDs. Certainly I had been warned that these are now rather out of date, and advised that I ought to become more au fait with contemporary methods. To my astonishment, however, I was warned of the dangers of “CD rot”. It seems that these objects are actually corruptible and the material can decay over time.
Oh dear! Just when I think that I am getting a grip on things, somebody moves the target further away. Will I ever join the contemporary world?
