Every now and then I do experience a nice surprise, which gives me the encouragement to remain enthusiastic about and committed to art. I was in conversation with morning with somebody who has quite a broad view of the regional art scene. Suddenly, I was startled to hear him refer to my work in the same breath as that of another artist, who has a well-established reputation, and for whom I have a great deal of respect. Well, fancy that!
