For the lack of a nail the horse was lost. For the lack of a horse the rider was lost. For the lack of a rider the battle was lost. For the lack of a battle the war was lost. All for the lack of a nail.
I’m beginning to relate to that. I have been doing some repairs on a boxed construction I made way back in 2006, as a new opportunity has arisen in which to exhibit it. As I reassembled the piece I ran out of the little metal tabs which are used in framing pictures. The whole process ground to a halt. Our nearby art supplier had none in stock, and the online service I checked out couldn’t guarantee delivery in time. I resorted to begging a favour from my friendly neighbourhood picture-framer. It was a close-run thing. “For the lack of a tab the picture was lost.” Well: not so now. Thanks, Andy!
