It is with some caution that I’m saying this, but I do seem to be airborne again. After a month during which I have not managed to paint anything, this week I have re-started work. The “warm-up” routine I devised, doing little pencil-sketch portraits appears to have broken that dreadful sense of inhibition. The reference material I gathered during the recent walk in the Derwent Valley, with my son and his family has been turned into an acrylic composition. It isn’t quite finished, but after three days of pretty solid effort I feel confident that it will be a presentable piece of work.
What is perhaps more important is the fact that I have felt sufficiently restored to begin thinking about the possibility of applying for inclusion in another exhibition.
