Now I’m beginning to get quite annoyed!

The reason for this has to do with the fact that, although I have painting projects in mind, as day passes day I find I have done nothing about any of them. I felt particularly displeased with myself last night when a good friend came to dinner with us and asked what I am working on at the moment. I did mention one of the ideas I’ve been turning over (and indeed, for which I have been collecting reference material) but I was aware all the time that so far all I have done is to select the medium in which I want to work.

It is not as though I am doing nothing socially useful. The week-end passed caring for our grandson and the dog. This afternoon was a very useful session in the garden. Worthy as all of the things are to which I am giving time and attention, all of them simply defer the time at which I will be able to get back to art again. The irony of this is the fact that my grandson asked (during our visit) if we could spend some time drawing together. We did: and it was nice: but the sketchy/portrait of my wife was not one of the things with which I really wanted to engage.

I’m aware that I’m becoming quite growly: but that’s how it is. Tomorrow my wife is going off to see her sister, so there ought to be no obstacles whatsoever. I live in hope.
