One step forwards ….

…. one step back. I thought everything was going so well. I have several ideas for pictures mapped out in my mind in reasonable detail, and had arranged for a friend of mine to model for one of the figures. As we had agreed, I went round to his house last night to take a couple of photographs for this purpose, only to find that he had been delayed by various things and his daughter told me that he had gone to the supermarket! Tomorrow I will have to see if I can fix up another appointment …. there is a possibility on Tuesday evening. Ah Well! Art never seems to be easy progression.

There have been good things about the day, even so. We met my sister-in-law in Selby where we had a really nice lunch in a Turkish restaurant. Then this evening we went for the first time to the local community cinema. Good films are shown once every month in our village hall. Tonight was Stan and Ollie. Two things struck me about the experience. Humour back in those days was so much kinder than it is now. Comics today appear to regard their primary task as to attack and denigrate somebody. Humour now is typically at somebody’s expense. Then, my first ever memory of seeing cinema was in the village hall in Newton St. Faith, in Norfolk, when I was about six years old. It appears that community cinemas is back with us …. and a good thing too!
