Still upright and facing forward

A few days ago I mentioned in a post that an injury to my leg was having quite a disturbing effect on my state of wellbeing in general. I has indeed been rather distracting, especially since I had to visit our local medical centre again to have the dressing changed, and realised on that occasion how sizeable was the wound. (As I put it to a friend today, I have never before seen to much of my own blood!) It really was quite a downer, but I think that I am managing to put it into perspective. (Let’s face it: there are people who have to put up with much worse than that.)

Despite all kinds of misgivings about the wisdom of this I did get out climbing today. I was extremely cautious at first, but gained in assurance as the day went on. Whether or not it has had an effect on my mind might be judged from the fact that I managed to leave my pack with all my climbing gear in my friend’s car, after he had driven me home! Or is that just age?

I’m seriously hopeful that I will get down to some painting again tomorrow. Nihil obstat! as the Pope might say. (Gosh! Is that the first time in my life I’ve ever quoted the Vatican?)
