By which I mean, make a public declaration of intention, running the risk of looking silly if I don’t do what I say I will do. I made it! Setting aside several temptations to do quite different things, I have made a start on a new picture, intended for my new Italy series. I prepared the canvas, that has been sitting accusingly on the easel for some days, planned the composition, and drafted that onto the prepared surface. If all goes well tonight I should actually get some paint on …. just generally blocking in the design.
I have to admit now, however, that I don’t expect to get a lot done tomorrow. Tuesday is my climbing day, and the forecast looks good. Something has to be very pressing indeed in order to allow it to displace my Tuesday climb. Art may be a vocation, but it’s not an obsession.
