There is an old story which tells of a village terrorised by a fierce lion. Children were warned never, ever to go up the mountain at the foot of which they lived. They were sure never to return alive. One day, however, a small boy, for some reason, ignored the advice of this elders and climbed to the top of the mountain. He did indeed encounter the lion …. but it was old, blind and toothless, and consequently presented a danger to nobody.
I was reminded of this story today when, after lunch, I screwed up the courage to begin the revision of my website. There were a few irritating glitches, and I know that I have not yet tackled the technically more demanding aspects of the process. Even so: I have made a significant start, and no longer feel quite the intimidation I was experiencing yesterday. Wish me luck!
PS: So Bill Bailey won Strictly! Well, who would have thought it! I have always thought that there is a good deal to be said for maturity.
