Well, I’m over the first fence …. but not over the barbed wire!

That’s the easy bit.  Somehow pieces of imagery from different sources all seemed to converge, although derived from quite diverse places and experiences. I have drawn initial versions of each window at about A4 size, with the expected leaded divisions marked in black ink, and the glass indicated in coloured pencils. I’ve managed to get a design that is balanced across both windows, with an “S”-shape in the left hand window echoed in reverse on the right.

The next stage is to do a larger drawing (possibly half-size) that develops these ideas and gives detail.  This is where the research really starts. I’m going to have to get military uniforms right.  The on-line catalogue for the glass manufacturer contains hundreds of samples, and although the glass technician will be mainly responsible for these choices, I have to be as helpful as I can.  There are still aspects of detail about which I am unsure.  (Can we do barbed wire?)

I hope to include some pics in future posts.
