A long time has elapsed since I last posted on this blog. The reasons for this have been complicated and tedious, including some technical problems, but also issues with my health. A gigantic diversion has been our decision to move house. Although we have not yet made the move the psychological and physical distraction entailed in getting the property ready to sell has been enormous.
My (formerly) regular communication through the blog has not been the only thing to suffer. I have found it immensely difficult to paint, and have done little of interest over the past year. Now that things are under control I hope to be able to put in some time updating the galleries.
One remarkable lesson has been learned from this experience, and that has been the importance for me of my identity and activity as an artist. It has come to seem on occasions that “non-productivity” equals “non-existence”. The opportunity to take a couple of pieces to the picture-framer this morning acquired a quite disproportionate significance as an affirmation of my continued being.
